Demanding high-mountain tour with toilsome and steep ascent to the main ridge of the Západné Tatry mountains. The highest elevation difference of all tours in Liptov.

The trip starts at the bus stop next to the Museum of the Liptov village. Asphalt road leads to a group of cottages at the end of the Račkova dolina valley. Also the next stretch of the route up to the fork of the Račkova and Jamnicka valleys makes use of a comfortable gravel road marked in blue. The yellow-marked stone-surfaced road heads to the Račkova valley. It runs in the forest and on the meadows crossing a mountain torrent several times. You will get some rest at the end of the Gáborova dolina valley. The log building, which the shepherds (1,600m a.s.l.) formerly used offers protection against adverse weather or in case of emergency you can even overnight there. The yellow-marked route continues towards the head of the Račkova dolina valley and it is steep in places but the most difficult ascent is close before reaching the summit. Three Račkove plesá lakes are becoming apparently ever smaller seen left from the climbing path. The Račkovo sedlo saddle (1,958m a.s.l.) is accessible first by meanders, later by a long steep traverse. Once in the saddle you are not only on the main ridge of the Západné Tatry mountains, but also on the Slovak-Polish frontier. The ridge and the frontier will accompany you from now on until you reach the Hrubý vrch Mt.(2.137m a.s.l.). Follow the red mark. Beyond the shallow saddle in the south is the Jakubiná Mt. (2,194m a.s.l.). This is also one of the important summits of the mountain range providing fine view of the near rocky crest called Ošarpance and of the fork of the Jamnícka a nd Račkova valleys, the same as the more distant landmarks in favourable weather. The basic route returns from Jakubiná to the main ridge. To descend to the upper part of the Jamnícka dolina valley (1,440m a.s.l.) use the green marked trail, which crosses in the valley with a blue-marked path coming from the Jamnícke sedlo saddle at the eastern end of the Roháče mountains. The blue mark will bring you to the cottages standing at the foothills of the mountains, you have passed by at the beginning of the trip.
