Caves
Beauty and mysterious underground world of caves are visiting thousands of home and foreign visitors every year. Original shape of drips, correctness, fragile beauty, massive drips or ices shapes documents huge power of nature and are very fascinating experience.
In Slovakia is well known over 4000 caves, for public is open 12 caves. In Liptov region are 3 access caves. Liptov is very proud on underground caves and region is called „Liptovský kras“.
On north side of Low Tatras, in Demänovska Valley are situated „Demänovský kras“, here dominate Demänovský caves systém long 35 km. In Demänovská Valley are access two caves. Demänovská caves of Liberty which belongs to the most beautiful caves in Europe and Demänovská ice cave. Besides big amount of non access caves are in Liptov also yawns and others natural shapes. For example the deepest slovak cave Old kastle deep 432 m, well known is also Liskovská cave there were found bones of 48 people.
In neighbourhood of Demänovská valley with world known caves are natural shapes also in Jánska valley. Liptov´s third cave is Važecká cave, which remind of fairy-tale country.

The best visiting cave in Slovakia. Is situated in Demänovská valley on north side of Low Tatras, in the national nature reserve Demänovská valley. During the year is visited by 150 until 175 000 visitors. It was discovery in the year 1921 and generalized in 1924.
There is an educational path installed along the access trail. The cave is a stale finding place of various vertebrates` bones, including cave bear /Ursus speleaus/, which were erroneously taken for dragon bones in the first half of 18th century. Ice filling occurs in the lower part of the cave, mainly in the Kmetov dome.
Važecka cave is national nature monument.
It is situated in the Važecky Karst, at the meeting place of Kozie chrbty (Goat Ranges) with the Liptovská Basin, at the western border of Važec.
